Revision as of 11:24, 22 April 2013

Sup kids, I'm CPTBadAss (CPT is the US Army abbreviation of Captain). I first discovered GeekHack while doing research for my Filco Majestouch 2. I stumbled upon DanGWanG's blog and saw the Red Alert set. Of course I had to find out what they were and eventually I wound up lurking GeekHack. Now I spend my time spamming, writing reviews, and helping out on various projects. But mostly spamming.

Click Clack Wiki and Pictures

SmallFry and I have been working on this article. Please submit pictures to his Dropbox so we can continue updating the Clack Wiki.

Clack Info Thread

The Clack Info thread is something I'm compiling. It has some information on Clack materials, vendors, colors, and prices (Retail and Second-hand). This spawned the Clack Wiki thread.

Simple Questions Simple Answers

I started this thread so that people could ask random questions and get answers. More deviously, it was a way for me to learn more about many random keyboard and GH related things. Have a question? Post there and I'll hunt down an answer.

The_Beast's GH60 Case

To go along with the GH60, The_Beast designed a amazing aluminum case. I helped answer a few questions, offered some design help, and checked the drawings that The_Beast sent out for quotes. Please check it out and consider picking it up. It's really awesome. And the cases can be anodized to have sexy colors.

Photekq's Filco/Phantom TKL Case

I offered to help Photekq out with his case with a random PM and we've been discussing some designs. I've also been answering some of Photekq's technical/engineering questions. Can't wait to see his case prototypes!

TKL Alps Board Project

I really fell in love with clicky Alps switches but I don't like that most Alps boards came in the old school style cases so I decided I'd mod my own. I bought a Ducky 1087XM with Linear Black Alps, a Dell AT101W with Tactile Black Alps, and a Focus FK-2001 with legit Clicky White Alps. I'm going to mod the Dell case using this guide. Then take the switches out of the Focus and put them into the Ducky's PCB, so I don't have to rewire the matrix. And then re-assemble this whole Franken-board. I'll come up with a clever name later :D.

Reviews

I started writing as a hobby in 2011. On Geekhack, I've been writing some of my thoughts on keyboards and related goodies. Please check 'em out and let me know if you find them helpful. I'm always looking for feedback on both these and on my blog on TeamLiquid, a prominent StarCraft 2 community/forum/team.

Filco TenKeyPad

This a review I wrote about the Filco Majestouch Tenkeypad. It's just the numberpad and nothing else. It's got MX Brown switches.

Leopold FC700R

This board was my first TKL board. It was my daily driver at home. Apparently it's a little hard to come by unless you want to pay for a proxy but I got lucky and scored a good deal on it. It's a really great board and probably the best impulse buy I've made on GeekHack.

Mr. Interface Switch Try Bag

The Mr. Interface Switch Try Bag is a baggie that has multiple switches in it. And when I mean multiple, I mean most easily attained switches. It's actually a ridiculous deal for what you get out of it. It's how I figured out that MX Whites were on the same level as MX Blues for me (AKA my favorites).

O-Rings and Soft Landing Pads

Sifo hooked me up with some free O-Rings and Soft Landing Pads. They're pretty nifty and I actually have the black soft landing pads from EliteKeyboards on my FC700R.

Dell AT101

Akimbro created this tour where he sent his Dell AT101 with tactile black alps around to let people try it out. I was lucky enough to sign up and write my thoughts here.

Switch Reviews

After going to the 2013 Chicago/Great Lakes and Nashville meetups, I documented all my thoughts on the switches I tried at both meets.

Other Writeups

Chicago Meet

I went to the Great Lakes/Chicago meet and wrote some of my thoughts about it here. Please check it out since I met a lot of cool people there and tried out a ton of boards!
